				Did Kovu want Hakuna Matata?

Here's a thing I noticed as I was contemplating on Lion King II areas to discuss:
Right after the Love Will Find a Way scene, when Kovu invites Kiara to "start a pride all their own," and Kiara says they need to go back, Kovu doesn't want to go back. He seems like all he wants is love...and maybe Hakuna Matata? He seemed very disappointed with Kiara after she wanted to go back; almost had the expression of knowing he couldn't hide what was true and what needed to happen. Kovu and Kiara couldn't have Hakuna Matata just like that, with their families fighting and all.
Now, I know this sounds similar to my Simba theory, but I find it true. What do you all think?
Here's the smiley to show you what expression he used --->

I do think Kovu was very tempted to just run away and live happily ever after, after everything he had gone through. He was pretty much a rogue by the time he was reunited with Kiara, he couldn't have returned to Zira's pride with her blaming him for Nuka's death, and Simba had just exiled him from the Pridelands. He had nowhere to go. Running of with Kiara and starting a new pride seemed a good idea to him at the time because in his mind, there wasn't another option. That's my interpretation anyway =)

Like QueenOfPrideRock mentioned, Kovu was a rogue with nowhere to go. He couldn`t rejoin his own pride, and he had been banished from the Pride Lands.
It seems pretty clear to me that he wants to run away together with Kiara, so they can live on their own away from the people who want to split them apart.
Kovu must have been very scared of confronting Zira and Simba, stopping the fight between the Prides must have seemed like an impossible challenge. But I do think that Kovu knew in his heart that Kiara was right. Them running away would not solve anything, it would only make things worse for those left behind. It would have been the selfish thing to do. "If we run away, they (the two prides) will be divided forever."
So yeah, I think Kovu wanted "Hakuna Matata" very much, especially considering he didn`t even know the meaning of the word "fun" until he met Kiara. Running away must have seemed like the perfect idea for him.

Is "Hakuna Matata" in this case a euphemism?

I think it had more to do with the fact that, he did not have many other options (if any?). I mean he was banished from Pride Lands, and left his own Pride...
But yes we can assume that he was kind of hoping for Haukna Mutata, I mean it literally mean no worries, and leaving the past in the past, for that reason I would say I agree with the OP theory...

Well, what has been said is correct in saying that for Kovu, there really wasn't another option, Zira would just kill him, or try to, if he stopped her, and Simba was not his friend, the Outlands and the Pridelands were both off limits to him, so why not run? Kiara, on the other hand, had her family to think about, what would happen to them? She HAD to go back, whereas Kovu COULDN'T go back...

lol since when did Kovu or Kiara know about Hakuna Matata?
I think you're pushing this theory a bit far imo. That wasn't disappointment in his face; it was worry. After all, he knew more than Kiara what Zira was capable of and was unwilling to lead her straight to danger right after they'd escaped. He'd
just been reunited with Kiara was was afraid of losing her:
"You're kidding, but we're finally together!"Kovu never struck me as the lazy type who wanted to live a life of no worries or responsibilities - he just wanted to keep Kiara safe. That's just my two cents.

I don`t think so. Upendi means Love, Hakuna Matata means No Worries. Upendi is about falling in love and feeling passion, Hakuna Matata is about being carefree and forgetting about responsibilities.

Not necessarily; it could mean that you are so in love that nothing else really matters and you are trapped within the ecstasy of your love. (:
@Amanda
I never said they did, lol. I just said that it seemed Kovu wanted to spend his life with Kiara in bliss and never have to face his past again.
