im posting this after going on whos the most handsome lion and finding this photo and some comments
Image

and i must disagree. Simba wasnt fat. I think he attualy looked nicer in Simbas pride
Image because i think his mane and his fur was much better. But some people really hated Simba in Simbas Pride and Loved the look of the one in Lion King. Its not like Darrel Ronney strided into the animation studio with his chin held up high and bellowed "Chang i want you to make Simba a fat ass"
he just did that with everthing else in the film
Image
for once this image is true in one case

Why do people hate Simba looks hate what Simbas pride did to his brain not his Looks thats something they did right his brain. Which they shrunk to the equivlent of Jaja binks is not ok
Im just saying
What do you think ;)

He's not fat, he's just more muscular in SP, that's all. I was the one who posted that picture but it was more to show the color differences between both Simbas, not to bash him or SP. Overall I think he looks better in TLK, since the animation is way better. If you like him more in SP, that's fine with me.
Just because some people think he looks better in TLK, it doesn't mean they find him fat and ugly in SP.

Exactly, but there is one other thing that is connected. If they thought that Simba in SP was fat, that what on Earth is Mufasa supposed to be?
I mean come on,Mufasa is the handsomest lion out there,as far as I'm concerned, and if you'd call Simba fat, than Mufasa would have to be even more.
Point being,as lions get older, they throw on more muscle mass, and not fat. Well, some fat as well, but most is muscles.

I don't usually jump into topics like this, but I figure I'd toss my two cents in just the same.

I remember hearing that the SP artists tried to make Simba look like Mufasa. Mufasa is definitely more "filled out" than adult Simba is in TLK, but I don't think the SP artists quite managed to pull off the same look with SP Simba. There isn't as much attention to detail with the characters a lot of the time, and sometimes something as subtle as the addition of a few lines can spell the difference between muscular and pudgy.

Take a look at this screenshot of SP Simba. The artists gave him the same slope-backed, large-shouldered appearance as Mufasa had, but they made his forelegs much too chunky (even his thumb looks pudgy). Compare to this screenshot of Mufasa in a similar pose.

I don't want to spend too much time on this topic, so I'll just post a few screenshots and let them (mostly) speak for themselves.

Mufasa's face (look at all those details in that mane)
SP Simba's face (His jaw is barely pronounced -- it's more of an extension of his cheek. And his mane looks almost like it's melting...)

And here's some full-body pictures of Mufasa (it's small, but it was the best one I could find), TLK Simba, and SP Simba.

I think its the fact that Simba's mane is much longer and thicker in SP than TLK that makes him look bigger. Compare pics of Kovu's mane to Simba's and you'll see what I mean. I don't like what Simba looks like/acts like in SP but he's not fat. I just dont like the colouring.

Akril had some great points here I think. SP Simba's paws are chunkier than Mufasa's were, and they don't pronouce Simba's shoulders or chin, which makes him look softer, smoother, and, well, fatter =3

Nah, he doesn't look fatter to me, in fact they've actually done a good job in making him seem a little more aged... in my opinion, anyway...

I think they did a good job at making him a little more muscular, I just wish they hadn't messed up the colouring =/
