i know this may sound a bit forward but there is a problem in SP. In Lion king 1 Nala and Simba show their love by licking
http://www.lionking.org/~jonathan/images/Licking.jpg

But in LKSP they deceided to atlually kiss
you will see this in the upendi song and in the rino stampede scene
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtBVX2rcpEw

What i want to know is. Why did Disney do this
Did they want to add a more human repesentation
Did they wont to show how there love had advanced
Or was it just bad writting
Please comment
Im dying to hear them
;)

Hmm. I think that they humanized the lions in the second movie more, seeing as they make the lions use their paws more like hands (see: Kiara trying to grab Zira by the paw) and that they made Kovu and Kiara 'kiss'. In the first movie, the animators used body language and feline movement to express emotion and gestures. This, however, took a lot of research and creative ideas. For a sequel, the animators most likely got lazy and just reverted back to using humanesque features, like they do with every other animal character they've created.

That's one of the things because of which I like the first movie better. They've actually observed real lions behavior and adapted it to the movie and IMO it all works much better than in the second one.

*nods* They did the same thing for the first Bambi movie, too.

Bad writing IMO and I really do mean / think that. Although if they have chosen to do it that way, then I guess it comes to preferences for one to form a decision on if this is a bad design choice.

Of course, there's no thick line between the two movies. It's not as significant a shift as all that. They still use human gestures in the first and feline gestures in the second. =3

No, there isn't; but there's still a pretty significant difference.

I agree with OP. Somehow seeing Kiara and Kovu "kiss" in the way humans do felt really off the first time I watched it, like it didn't belong to the scene at all. :/ I mean, you never see lions do that IRL (or stand on their hindlegs waving their paws around the way Zira did in My Lullaby). I guess Disney just decided that they would give the characters more humanistic qualities to hurry up with production of SP.
However, I have to mention that Kiara did lick Kovu on the cheek to help him swallow the passionfruit in Upendi, so we can't blame Disney all that much. :P

I think that was more of a peck: 1:37 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtBVX2rcpEw

Regardless, I agree with zorayda: they humanized the lions in the second movie moreso than in the first movie. I mean, I don't think they would've ever tried something like this in the first movie.

lol nvm, my bad.
And wow, Zira looks really dramatic there LOL. Kind of reminds me of a similar pose by Scar but of course, any ordinary lion can raise a paw to its forehead lol. It's Zira's other clenched "fist" that makes that particular screenshot look ridiculous.
