I've been thinking about this for a while; When Nuka dies and Zira blames Kovu, wouldn't it be abit hypocritical if she knew that Scar killed his own brother, but still considered him the true king?
I've always been annoyed at this scene, and this is one reason why I don't like Zira too much. If she knew what Scar did, she's... well being a b*tch if she gets all stroppy at Kovu for accidentally, and in my opinion not techically killing Nuka.
Perhaps Zira never found out, or maybe she's just crazy.
What do you think?

Well, in my honest, personal Opinion, Zira is insane. And very, very heartless.

If you really love someone, you forgive what they do, whatever that is... She loved Scar from what we see in the movie, so we can guess that in her eyes, Scar was the one true King.

I think Zira believed that Scar deserved to be king instead of Mufasa, and the only way for Scar to achieve his true rank in the Pride, would be to kill his brother.
We’ve seen how cold Zira can be to her own cubs, so I think she knew what Scar did and thought it the right thing to do. In SP, Zira is portrayed as quite power-hungry, similar to Scar, both are characters who’d do anything to get the power.

So yes, I believe Zira knew what Scar had done to become king, and thought that he should have been king all along. She was after all extremely loyal to him.

On a side note, I too believe Zira is insane.

EDIT: I just thought of something.. I don’t see it as very likely that Scar would tell anyone that he had killed his own brother to get the throne. BUT if he and Zira were in fact mates, and in love, it is possible that he told her. It could be that they told eachother everything.. And maybe Scar saw a lot of himself in Zira, and chose to confide in her.

But I think however, Zira would have forgivin Scar for what he did, so she really didn't care, but when Simba killed Scar, she might have unforgivin him.

Yes it is extremely hypocritical for Zira to be upset at Kovu for 'killing' his brother when he actually was not responsible for Nuka's death but Scar actually did kill his brother. Either she did know but loved Scar too blindly to take much notice of it or she actually didn't know. I had never considered the possibility that maybe Zira didn't know Scar killed his own brother before.

Edit: That's not the first time Zira has misplaced blame for someone's death either. She wastes the whole rest of her life hating Simba for killing Scar when he did not in fact kill Scar. The hyenas killed him.

All I've got to say is that she never truly loved Kovu. The only reason she ever treated him nicely was because she expected him to bring her victory - hence her sudden change of heart from being angry at him when she had that devious idea during his childhood. Anger at him turned to singing him a lullaby as soon as she realized what she could use him for. When she realized that her dream wasn't coming to fruition like she'd planned, Kovu was once again useless in her opinion.

I've got to say, Snowy, you worded whatever I could've said perfectly. While Zira may have held a small bit of love for him at some point, it was quenched and suffocated through her desire for revenge.

Definitely insane, heartless, no way. Deep down she loved Nuka and Vitani, as they were her children, however I'm sure she never really loved Kovu.

I think shes insane and that she didn't know about Scar killing Mufasa and
even if she did I don't think she would have cared at all.
