I suppose that would have been the moment that Mufasa jumped out of nowhere and killed Scar if Disney wanted to make it that he actually survived and he was just put into a coma instead of dieing

What was Scar trying to do the whole time in TLK? Get rid of Simba, as in killing him.
The picture you posted was Scar going in for the kill, delivering his ultimate blow to end Simba’s life.

Sorry, I misunderstood your question.

I excpect he would try to rip his belly open or perhaps go for the throat.. Simba was lying on his back, exposing his vulnerable belly area, but his throat and neck is pretty well protected by his mane, so yeah.. I think Scar would have tried both. Tear at Simbas belly with his hind feet while biting at his throat at the same time.
