Right, most of us know that Zira is crazy, yes? (no offense to the hardcore fans). Mainly crazy about avenging her 'beloved', Scar. Well, I have just watched TLK: Simba's Pride, and noticed something quite interesting:

Here, she goes to scratch Kovu

And here she does so =P

and look at Zira's reacion!


Zira gasps and seems really shocked to see Kovu with a scar on his face, very similiar to Scar's- I might even go as far as to say, she was scared.
Maybe, just maybe, Zira was scared of Scar? And now she's mistaken her fear for love, and her strong desire to avenge his death.

Wwhat do you guys think?

Seems Just like a surprised face. Maybe Because he looked like scar.

I have noticed Ziras reaction before, but it’s never struck me as fear.. more surprise or perhaps shock mixed with anger. I can’t really picture Zira being scared of anything, much less Kovu being similar to Scar.. She keeps claiming he’s just like him anyway.

i never thought of Zira being scared of Scar but it's worth thinking over. nice topic by the way. i'll post agin when i have more to say

She gushed over Scar too much to be afraid of him. I believe her shock after she scarred Kovu was from how he resembled Scar even more then.

I always thought it was shock, not fear, that Zira felt. The scar she gave Kovu made him look so much like Scar that she was taken aback. But maybe you're right that she did fear Scar a little, though not for the reason you mentioned. After all, she pretty much worshiped him like a slave and carried out his bidding even when he was dead lol.

Yea, I always noticed that. I though "Why did she do that?". Maybe she could have been shocked she just did that, and didn't mean to do it? I really don't know lol.
And how dare you call her crazy? D: [lol]

I think she was more shocked than scared,but it is indeed possible that she did fear Scar a little. I'm not sure.

I felt it was a combination of the two, although not afraid of Scar.

She was obviously shocked by the resemblance. But I think striking her own son like that and then seeing him turn back with the Scar---it must have felt a little bit like slashing Scar, neh? I felt like she was momentarily afraid of just what she had done to Scar's heir, now that he resembled him more than ever. Perhaps she had begun to forget exactly what Kovu was in relation to Scar, and seeing that face reminded her of just what she was doing. I think it was mostly shock, though.
