Signatures

Hi! Welcome to the Feedback forum.
Before reading anything or asking anything; please check out the FAQs. Your question might be in there. However if you want a better understanding after reading the FAQs, like if it didn't explain it good enough, then by all means ask your question.

Please read the following before posting in this forum...

In this forum you will see an Announcement, and several "sticky" topics. The announcement is the Universal Board Rules. If you are new, read this before doing anything else! The sticky topics will stay above and separated from normal user-made topics in the forum. This is because they outline important information about the board. If you see a sticky topic concerning your issue, please reply with your question or concern in the correct topic. Moderators will see your reply within these topics. Before asking your question, be sure to read the topic and its first page especially. It contains information about your issue that is valuable and may even answer your questions. If the topic does not answer your question, ask your question within the topic, not the forum. If no sticky topic concerns your issue, then you are welcome to ask your own questions by creating a new topic within the forum.

Thank you for keeping the Board Help forum organized!

Some people have a different view of what a signature really is than others. Those who view signatures as unimportant (like you) won't care, and are going to be in favor of the new rule (which I repeat is COMPLETELY unnecessary, especially when it results from neglect of the old rule, which was a reasonable one). Those who view signatures as a way to unintrusively promote their own and others' threads, and stuff like that, are going to be very unhappy with it because it's either have a small image, or an even smaller image plus what little space is left to promote threads (WHICH BRINGS ACTIVITY TO THE FORUM!).
He said text doesn't count. You don't need an image just to post an AD for something into your signature. You just put it as a URL in your signature, and then it's completely fine. You can also put them inside spoiler tags.
Lol let's face it, no one clicks on spoilers to see what's in them.

This is indeed true. I was just giving a suggestion, knowing that there's not going to be much of a way to change the mods minds now that they've set the rule down. The rotator could easily help solve this problem too - besides the fact that there's a limit on how many images you can upload into the signature thing. :P

I was afraid no one would agree with me. Thanks sno.
The new maximum sig dimensions are way too small imo. I don't get what was wrong with the old rules at all. If people were breaking those rules, shouldn't they be punished and not us? If some of their sigs were "distracting", why don't those people get warnings instead of making the rest of us suffer?
Also, what about next Christmas when people will want to display multiple sigs made by Secret Santas/friends to not make them feel bad...? Don't say we should shrink them because that usually reduces their quality (I've already shrunk my two Kiara sigs by a great deal and they look many times worse than they did originally). This also makes it literally impossible for graphics artists to make sigs over 275 x 575, which is ridiculous.

^ Exactly. Quality, Moka! :P the smaller the pics we're allowed to make/have, the less quality there will be, and the less freedom/credit there will be for the (amazing) graphic artists we have on this site. Not to mention that now a ton of the freebie graphics will either be against the rules, or will have to be resized one-by-one (thereby lessening their quality).

Edit: Also I'd like to point out that using the fact that other forums have even stricter rules for sigs, or disallow them completely, is not a valid argument to justify this new rule. It just means we're sinking to the level of the admins on those other sites who are too big a jerks to let people put a reasonable amount of what they want to down there.

People, please, cut the drama already. It's just a signature on a web site, and you sound like it's the only way and place you can express yourselves and your creativity and like your world is ending because it can't be as big as you'd want it to be.

This forum's admins are just trying to make this forum actually look like the discussion forum this is meant to be, and more enjoyable to larger number of people. As Moka said, it wouldn't be fair to require some people to disable much-loved forum feature just because some others don't want to shrink their enormous signatures. A compromise can't get better than this change in the rule. Get over it, please.

PS. Look at my signature. It includes two 400x100px graphics and I don't think their quality sucks at all. I've even seen some people actually using these on this forum. So most certainly it IS possible to make a very fine graphic within that much larger limit.
