Chatroom Idea

Hi! Welcome to the Feedback forum.
Before reading anything or asking anything; please check out the FAQs. Your question might be in there. However if you want a better understanding after reading the FAQs, like if it didn't explain it good enough, then by all means ask your question.

Please read the following before posting in this forum...

In this forum you will see an Announcement, and several "sticky" topics. The announcement is the Universal Board Rules. If you are new, read this before doing anything else! The sticky topics will stay above and separated from normal user-made topics in the forum. This is because they outline important information about the board. If you see a sticky topic concerning your issue, please reply with your question or concern in the correct topic. Moderators will see your reply within these topics. Before asking your question, be sure to read the topic and its first page especially. It contains information about your issue that is valuable and may even answer your questions. If the topic does not answer your question, ask your question within the topic, not the forum. If no sticky topic concerns your issue, then you are welcome to ask your own questions by creating a new topic within the forum.

Thank you for keeping the Board Help forum organized!

Chatroom Idea

Can we maybe have a way to easily recognise who we are talking to? I.E if you click on a name in the chat it automatically inserts "@Namehere"? I dunno how much work something like that would be but generally a way to easily communicate with specific people other than writing their name manually would be appreciated I am sure.

Good idea! I generally don't like using @"insertnamehere" because it takes a long time, and like Flip said, is very annoying. Even copying and pasting is not the best option, but if it's too difficult to implement, then I guess we can suffer a bit more. :P

It might be easier to add a quote function at the end, just like it is here.

^ that could be effective :) maybe each post could have a "Q" at the end which if pushed, adds a quote of the corresponding post.

Could this really be? A suggestion that did not lead into a flame war? This has to be new for MLK...

By all seriousness, the only reason why I think such a thing will not be implemented is simply because it will be too hard to code. Having a quote option has no losses, and can help people if multiple conversations are going on in the chatbox. So this really is a question of 'how hard is it to code a quote system into the chatbox?'

I like it... but as DGFone says, it seems to take some work, and since even with really little things the staff mess up, I don't see how much possible will it be. I hope it happens, tho.

Well you can already quote people in the chat, I can't profess to be an expert but it can't be that difficult if you know roughly what you are doing, to add a quote function when it already exists on the post reply page.
I do remember Moka saying he MIGHT be updating the chatroom, though.

Yep, great idea! It's pretty annoying when the chatroom is busy and you're talking to someone.

I don't think it would be that hard to code. The quote function is already there.
