RolePlay Forum suggestions

Okay guys this is a thing that the staff have been planning to do for a short wile now, and we need feedback from you fine people. Basically because the RP section has been as alive as a a dead thing for a while, we are hoping to work on improving the way RolePlaying on here works and stuff (to keep it short) and see if that improves things, and even if it does not, at least it will be better if it randomly picks up again.

So what I want you guys to do is post here in a reply, just give us any feedback you can on the RolePlay sections of the forum, even if you have not really used it your thoughts count very much so. What do you think is good, and what could be better? Also what new ideas do you think we could bring to it?

After a couple of weeks or so, we will take everything said, add it all to what we already have come up with and start work on revamping the RP section, so this is your chance to have a say, and really improve MLKF for everyone ^^.

Well, I have decided to quit RPing, but I believe that there should be a different board for Private/Closed RPs so people will know where to search for an open RP. I certainly wouldn't want to go through pages of RPs to find an open one. Other than that, I believe the RPing section is fine. :)

I'd have to think a little longer about actual ideas for the RP section, but I can mention two problems I've seen that might (?) be able to be fixed.

Firstly, one issue tends to be with folks joining RPs and then not actually participating in them, effectively killing the RP unless the RP leader is extremely adamant about finding a replacement and keeping others interested. Basically, if members are gonna join RPs, they need to make sure they're actually going to post and not.. you know, never post at all.

Also -- another problem in the past has had to do with too many closed/private RPs, which doesn't really help those actively searching for one that don't really want to create their own storyline/RP, but it seems like that's been corrected a bit more lately.

I think a third issue I know some have had with the RP section is that many of the RPs' storylines are not very inventive... i.e. they're boring, cliched and sound like all the others. But there's a pretty easy solution to that one: create your own that isn't any of those things.

I think that a pretty obvious issue is there not being enough Open RPs, and the ones there are either take forever to start, don't start at all and just die off, or have too few characters that only a few people can join. Almost everything is Clsoed or Private, and I prefer RPing with more than 1 or 2 people at a time, and no one seems to be making any Open ones that don't have any of the issues stated beforehand.

So, basically, what everyone is saying is; Take as many precautions as you can before starting an RP. i.e. Check that everyone who wants to join your RP is active and if, for some reason, somebody stops RPing (be it because they have some personal matters to deal with or something else) then the host of the RP should have something ready to deal with that issue.

The thing is, is that sometimes it's very unexpected and a huge blow when someone leaves, or doesn't post, in a roleplay. Take me, for example. I was in a roleplay or two when I left. (I don't know how much it affected the RP's I was in) Because I was using my OC, it would've been very difficult to find a way to carry on with the RP (especially as I was posting a LOT) I don't really know how you can combat that...But, I'm back with a vengeance now ;)

But the thing is: If you're going to leave, DON'T JOIN RPS. It's that simple.

But wait, you left? For what? :O

I only joined an RP a few days ago (2 or so days ago), and they only reason why I joined it was because it had an open spot. How much did I know about it? I read the bio. That's about it. I simply jumped at the first opportunity to join an RP for the experience.

I like the idea of private/closed RP's - they survive longer if they get off the ground, but it means that other people can't join.

Yeah, but at the time of joining the rp's, I had no idea that I was going to leave. I could never have forseen it.

I have no good reason for leaving. I am completely ashamed of it. It was a stupid mistake and i'm adamant that it will not happen again.
