An issue that seriously needs to be resolved, like... now

First off, I'll start off by saying a couple of months ago, I saw Moka post something about like a new nomination system for choosing new staff. This goes into my subject.
For one, I think this, and I know quite a few would agree that Mylionking, is in desperate need of more moderators. I mean, there has been a huge increase of troll/spam attacks as of the past few weeks, and everyday it only seems to be worse. Seriously, one day I checked in on the forum, and saw that the WHOLE ENTIRE from page was covered with spam/trolling posts, primarily of that Moka picture.
What I would like to say is, if this voting/nomination system is even going to be possibly put into place, why hasn't it been released out yet? Or am I missing something? Are the mods seriously just going to appoint another member who is never on during these spam attacks? Especially since this was hinted at, I've been anticipating it for a while, but it has yet to even show a clue of happening, in my eyes.
All I have to say on that issue is, what's with the hold up? Can we get the system going, or not? Why be late on this issue, when it's an issue that could effect the whole entire outcome of how the forum will work/run?
Another issue I'd like to push is that out of the new moderators choosen, the next one/one of them should definatly be a girl. Staff teams need a bit of diversity, not only through the region their in, but also gender could matter as well. Just as females are more likely to do things like cleaning up the house, that a man won't do, it seems that this could definatly be the same case. (lol, not to bring up a steriotype, but, ya know).
Anyways, what's your opinions? This thread should in no way be up to criticise the staff team/other members, and is only here for the reason of discussion.

I agree with everything in this post.
Edit: I just wanted to note that perhaps a mod's age should be 18 or older as well. Just so that they can be a little responsible (unless it's Amanda because half of the time I forget she's not my age lol). And can we have someone who can spell correctly?

For purely informational purposes, I will add my words to this thread, which is quite apt. I have seen the havoc done by spammers, all manner of horrid things done by those people who wish nothing more than to mess with the honest members of this site. MLK has grown huge on the web and due to this, trolls and spammers are targeting it more and more. I agree that the numerical value of our staff is as of now insufficient to cover all the problems. I do not say that they are in any way incapable themselves, just that 4 members spread out throughout the world leaves some wide gaps in coverage. I do not propose any plan at this time for I am aware that I am as of yet considered young and nieve, but I will not stand for trolls and spammers damaging the quality of this site. I have no power myself, and many times, I have seen these things only to discover a lack of mod or admin online to deal with it. I am sorry for any offense caused, but WS is right...

I'm not sure if you've already read this, but Moka and the staff have already cleverly resolved the troll/spammer issue. They decided to make every new member have to have their first post confirmed by the moderators before they are allowed to post any more. I really like their idea and I feel it will do good among the forums.
However, if the staff wish to appoint new moderators, that's totally up to them. We can have our say in it, but it is their decision. I do agree with your female moderator suggestion, though. It kind of seemed (No offence intended) sexist that I didn't see any female staff members. Like I said though, it's totally up to the staff and I'm willing to comply with whatever decision they choose.

That approval thing might work temporarily, Lilac, but spammers get smarter by the day, and I'm sure eventually they'll find a way around it. I really don't think it would do any bad to appoint a few new moderators. A found should have at least 1 mod per 200 members, or then it will be to much people to look over. You want to know why the staff are constantly complaining about the forum being a lot of work? Because there's 2 other people there to help them.

Yes, we will definitely be needing one or two more staff members very soon. I think I'll set up that nomination topic tonight. I don't know what we were really waiting for.
@Silly - I personally don't think age matters too much. Some people are younger but more mature than others older than themselves. We should consider maturity, not age.
@Lilac - The post approval thing was for spam bots. Trolls can simply post a nice first post to get approved and get the forum unlocked for them.

Oh, I understand now. ^^ I thought you were refering to trolls in this case. But yes, they can be a bit of an issue...

I agree with absolutely everything you are saying, except for that. Not saying it can not be a girl, but that it should not be chosen just to make things "fair" there are more males than females on this forum (I think) and so a bigger number of likely candidates are male that is all. It is not like this place never had female staff (I think Buffy was staff once no?) If the staff think a female is the one for the job then they will get it, as far as I can see it is based purely on how you act and generally how active you are.
On that note: I agree with what Silly is saying about being at least 18, it just does not seem right for me to be following the rules of anyone years younger than me ( I think all current staff are at least 18 anyway).
And on the other hand: you just know people will vote for their friends or something, I think the current system is fine too. So in short: I do not mind either way, just PLEASE think carefully about who you are choosing, if it comes down to vote or staff choice: applies to both situations.
