Disney's never ending live-action remakes

That'd be awesome.

By the way, I just remembered reading about Disney's plan to turn the Chernabog segment in the first "Fantasia" (Night on Bald Mountain) into its own film. It'd probably have a "Maleficent" vibe.

It's a bummer about Mulan, but there's no point in pulling back to a specific date when You don't know if You will be able to meet said date (On a side note I have always felt, that it was a huge mistake for the movie industry to set release dates for movies that They have not even made yet).

Well At least We will see the movies eventually.

I agree. These are uncertain times we live in, and with the global pandemic, I think it's best to not publicly announce a specific date until a vaccine is found and cinemas and screening venues start to reopen, unless they are musicians releasing studio albums or authors with their books and digital filmmakers premiering their works online. Glad we will see these movies still.

Its at 30 dollars... dunno if rental or purchase...

but this is interesting as to why disney would do this, would it be America only? will other Disney movies scheduled for this year follow suit?

I hear many movie theaters in Europe and Asia are opening up again, and they need new movies. Lets face it, America is a mess right now and Disney can’t constantly delay everything while America fails and fails and fails to get its act together.

They will likely lose money but at the same time they can afford that and when movie theaters in america reopen they can keep on schedule... kind of? instead of being far behind schedule delaying movies for eternity.

I heard some theaters outside the US will have Mulan as a theatrical release.

I’ve also heard they clarified you keep Mulan when you buy it as long as you keep your Disney+ account. So... this makes me wonder if it’s ALWAYS going to be 30$? I wouldn’t think so... but at the same time, why would it be purchased if you can have it free later on? I really don’t know how it’ll work 100%.

Edit: Here’s something that mentions it: https://twitter.com/kirstenacuna/status/1290812730148937728?s=21

Chapek said it’s going to be a one time thing, and no more releases this big are going to Disney+.

But oh my god, that 200M$ film getting slapped onto Disney+, ouch. Well, not without a cost of course. But still.

I think they will probably wait a lot longer than normal for Mulan to be added to free Disney+ in America. And yeah, it seems to be a purchase and not a rental?

They are still going to take a hit esp since they can’t fall back on merch sales but they gotta move forward. Can’t keep delaying everything forever.

At the moment I am back in my city Jakarta, Indonesia. The cinemas here planned to reopen on July 31st but it all got scrapped due to the rapidly rising cases here. Malls, bars and restaurants are open, and many are going out more than they're advised to by the government. Also, my friends over in Melbourne, Australia said Melbourne has extended its lockdown for another 2 months so I'm guessing the cinemas there remain closed.

I'm still learning about Disney+'s new model, but I agree with you all that delaying everything forever is definitely not an option.

$30.00 is a lot to pay for a movie. I "might" eventually do it, but it will buy it the day it drops.

More random discussion about a Lion King 2 remake.
https://twitter.com/discussingfilm/status/1293927073225089024?s=21

Nothing special but you see the reaction in the replies lol.
However, The Lion King 2 has been trending on twitter for a few hours with nearly 7K tweets about how much people love it. (Some talking about 1 1/2 as well) Didn’t realize at all. Some people actually WANT a remake of it, which comes as no surprise really. It seems to still be a discussion of not if but when it’ll happen.
