Postby Biomac » January 23rd, 2020, 8:21 pm

Hi everyone!
I wanted to share some a few anime movies that I'd personally recommend if ever you're interested in it. I think the list hereunder contains an interesting variety of films: some more commercial, some from popular anime franchises, or some very famous and acclaimed. So here goes:

Akira
A Silent Voice
Bigfish & Begonia
Castle in the Sky
Dragon Ball Z Battle of Gods
Dragon Ball Z Resurrection of F
Dragon Ball Super Broly
From up on Poppy Hill
Howl's Moving Castle
In This Corner of the World
Kiki's Delivery Service
Liz and the Blue Bird
Lu over the Wall
Mary and the Witch's Flower
Millennium Actress
Modest Heroes
My Neighbor Totoro
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
Okko's Inn
Only Yesterday
Penguin Highway
Pom Poko
Ponyo
Porco Rosso
Princess Mononoke
Spirited Away
Tales from Earthsea
The Cat Returns
The Night is Short, Walk on Girl
Whisper of the Heart
Your Name

If you have any other suggestions, feel free to share!

Hi. This is such a wonderful thread. Great list. Kiki's Delivery Service is one of my top faves, and My Neighbor Totoro is definitely a classic :D I've been wanting to watch Penguin Highway.

Great choices! I'm also a huge fan of Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli in general.

Miyazaki and Shudio Ghibli are magic.

Recently I watched The Wind Rises. Stunning.

Wow I haven't seen Weathering with You but I'm interested in it. I also haven't seen Castle in the Sky. That's on my list as well.

I'm only going to recommend ones I've watched recently for now just to save some time:
KonoSuba: Legend Of Crimson, Promare, I Want To Eat Your Pancreas, NiNoKuni, Weathering With You and Perfect Blue. Perfect Blue is not for the faint of heart though.

Jules: CitS is the reason why I love cinema; it shaped me as a person. I definitely recommend you watch it, especially if you like Ghibli since it represents an important part of the studio's history.

FlipMode: those movies sound awesome. I haven't watched Promare yet, and wonder if it's on par with the studio's other works such as Kill la Kill or Gurren Lagann. As for Perfect Blue, I heard it's Satoshi Kon's magnum opus, so I'll check this one out for sure. As for the other films you mentioned, except Weathering with You, I never heard of those.

The Tale of Princess Kaguya is really good. I love the different animation and art techniques used it it.
