Well, at least the country is becoming more and more open. Not by much, but it's something. I predict that within our lifetime this country will become a democracy. This is just another douchebag leader. When China becomes a democracy, North-Korea will fall.
Let him play with his toys while the world laughs.

China doesn't need to become a democracy for North Korea to fail. China just needs to finally decide that keeping North Korea alive is no longer of any use, and only hurts them politically.

It is really funny that there is a newspaper in China called Reference News that my family subscribes to. I once read a piece of North Korean news a year ago, saying that "a new dog-meat restaurant has been opened in Pyongyang, another proof of the rising living standards of North Korean people, which were already very high." The news kept saying how the restaurant had good business, how the Pyongyang citizens, like the rest of the North Koreans, enjoy a comfortable life that was always improving, blah blah blah… How did the Xinghua News Agency know this? Simple, it was a special report from its reporter in Pyongyang.
It is really frustrating to see such blatant lies printed unabashedly on China's most important newspaper. Sure, such lie is unsurprising given the nature of this newspaper, and the other important newspaper "People's Daily" is as capable of printing such palpable absurdity as this, like saying "giving [name censored by the Great Firewall] the Nobel Peace Prize is blasphemy"
Refer to Wikipedia, "Reference News"
Reference News... is a newspaper daily which has the largest circulation in mainland China with 3 million. It is published by Xinhua News Agency. As the Chinese government's official news agency, Xinhua carefully selects articles from world's major news agencies and news journals and translates them into Chinese. Before the 1980s, it was the only official channel for the Chinese public to have a glimpse of the outside world.
"People's Daily"
The People's Daily is a daily newspaper in the People's Republic of China. The paper is an organ of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), published worldwide with a circulation of 3 to 4 million. In addition to its main Chinese-language edition, it has editions in English, Japanese, French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic and Korean. Similar to Pravda's relationship with the Soviet Union, the newspaper provides direct information on the policies and viewpoints of the Party.
