(I was really unsure where this belonged, so if it should be somewhere else, then I'm sorry xD )
I've been listening to
Some Nights by Fun a lot today, and everytime I look it up I see Lion King written in the comments quite a few times. I got curious...and confused...and looked into it a little. A lot of people have said that it reminds them of the music in TLK, or TLK itself (and a couple other things like Queen). I guess it's the way the song sounds? I don't know. Personally, I don't really see it. Some Nights reminds me of Wreck-it-Ralph since it's, you know, in the trailer xD
But I'm curious if anyone else sees it?

I guess it's the drums. A friend of mine just told me that, when not listening to the radio cut, the drums can be heard better and give off a TLK feel.
Hm. Interesting. But I still don't see it, lol

No no no, a lot of people think of TLK when they hear the song not because of the music, it's because of the topic/theme and the lyrics. The singer's philosophy is a lot like Hakuna Matata and very applicable to Simba in his time spent in the jungle, the narrator in the song doesn't know what he's doing with his life and sometimes is a little confused about it/feels like he should be doing more on some level but decides the best thing to do about it is to carry on merrily and do nothing about figuring it out and enjoy life in a "not thinking about it/its all cool" kind of way as the best resolution that he gets behind.
Tl;dr-- It's the theme of the song, not the music.

What CGW said. Though the drums do help with the TLK tie-in idea.

Mhm... it does kinda sound like the music from TLK. Just need to remove the electronic-y dubstep stuff, and add that weird flute-sounding instrument thing.

Some of the lyrics make me think TLK as well
"I still see your ghost, Oh, Lord, I'm still not sure what I stand for" - Simba seeing Mufasa's ghost, and not really knowing who he is anymore
"This is it, boys, this is war - what are we waiting for?...I was never one to believe the hype" - Simba going back to the Pride Lands, having not believed Nala about being the rightful King before.
"And some nights I'm scared you'll forget me again" - "You said you'd always be there for me, but you're not..."
"When I see stars, when I see, when I see stars, that's all they are" - See above, Simba stops believing i the Kings of the Past
"Who the ---- wants to die alone all dried up in the desert sun?" - Simba in the desert/the destroyed Pridelands
"The other night you wouldn't believe the dream I just had about you and me" - I suppose this could be loosely applied to Mufasa's ghost as well
