OMG guys! So guess what, I was on Facebook a while ago, reading about how girls are thinking that every man in the world is a giant a hole because one person cheated on them. And during that, I noticed one that said "Does anyone want a beta key for the new Ghost Recon", turns out the guy is away at university and so can not play... I have it now lolololol.
And why is this a good thing? Because GR - AW2 was one of the best on-line shooters for PS3. And I have very high hopes for this one! Downloading it later when I get home from town, looking forward to it like you would not believe. These games actually require team work and stuff because there is a strong emphasis on tactics and a lone soldier hardly ever does well (I do because I am a gawd at the game but W/E).
So anyone else in the PS3 trial? Played it somewhere else? Opinions on previous games? Looking forward to the new one? Questions?

I'm planning on downloading it in a few minutes! It looks hella fun. I've never played any of the previous Ghost Recon titles, but I have heard good things about it so I'm looking forward to it.

Sounds good. I'll add you after the download has finished. And you thought I was a 360 or PC player? Shame on you.

I am really not looking forward to the Ghost Recon. Why?
Because I am a huge fan of the old fashioned Tom Clancy games - Ghost Recon 1 and Rainbow Six 1-3. In fact, I have and still play Rainbow Six 3. Therefore, I hate the new games because of how different they are:
3rd person perspective, regenerative health, power-ups, etc... Yes, the early games were very hard and therefore had a very limited audience (for that matter, unable to be played on consoles at all), but I really don't like how the two series dropped realism for the sake of sales.
It used to be where if you die, you die. The character is gone for the rest of the game (you can regain them by restarting the campaign), and the games can be very unforgiving. Nor is there any quick saving - you have to complete every mission in one go. But on the other hand, the mission complete message is much more rewarding when every little encounter can be very painful. One famous aspect in the early Rainbow Six games was the mission planning stage. That's right - the games combined both strategy and FPS action.
If you want a casual 'realistic' game, play Call of Duty or Battlefield. But if you want to play an actual simulator - you had the old Tom Clancy games. But sadly, not anymore. Now both Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon are the same simplified games.
I guess I should say congratulations on getting the beta key (I am assuming it's for Future Soldier), but my recommendation is that you drop it and get your hands on Rainbow Six 1, 2, 3 or Ghost Recon 1. Yes, they will look bad and have a very steep learning curve, but in my opinion, they are much better games and are the peak of what Tom Clancy games were and should be.
