Criminal Rights Debate Thread

The spark for this discussion, of course is the news that Texas prisons have cut the amount of meals that are available to prisoners (they took away lunch entirely from the menu on weekends) this meant that prisoners on death row were basically starving when executed (traditionally inmates were able to request a final meal of their choice, then it was cut to "what is on the menu at the time" and now... If you were to be executed at an unfortunate time, nothing.)

So what do you guys think? Do criminals have a right while in prison, and if so to what extend should it go? =)
Discuss...

At first I wanna say that the states that still carry out executions are stupid! People don't get to think about what they have done. They get the easy way out! And if the find out afterwards that someone was innocent you can't turn it back! Execution is dumb , stupid and extremely ignorant.

But to go ontopic, I think they have the right to choose their last meal. But then again it's texas... If I only read the rules of these states I lol. They are so ignorant. They ate intollerant to people who are different.

So basically everyone has the same human rights, I would say. Freedom, equality, etc.
When you put people into prison you kind of already take their right to freedom. Of course they have hurt someone other's rights, and most of them deserve it to be in prison. But actually everybody is free.

Of course criminals have to be punhished, but I would say it depends on how they behave theirselves. If there's a drugdealer who has 5 years and he shows good behavior, then I'd say he has a right to be treated fairly. But if there is a, I don't know, a rapist or murderer, I don't think he deserves more than the minimum. Just my opinion. Discuss ! :D
