3DS opinions? (preferably from people who played/own one)

Considering buying one. Especially since they are very cheap right now after the recent price drop, especially in comparison to the upcoming PS Vita.
So here is the deal - I will likely end up getting both (Vita and 3DS) since the Vita has been pushed to 2012 for the UK anyway. So the question at this point is this, do you think I should get the the 3DS as well or save the £130 (which admittedly is not a lot of money for a new console)?
Like what are the good and bad points about the console in your opinion and is the battery life really as bad as some say?
Also, one more thing, if you do make a reply saying it is great or you would recommend it, a few games would be nice as well, since this is my first Nintendo console that I am actually buying since the original DS =P.
Thanks in advance.

I have it, and it's a pretty neat little device

The battery life is ok (to me anyway, but admittedly I'm not exactly a hardcore gamer lol) and the 3D effect is quite impressive, it really adds a lot of depth to the images and also has stuff "come at you" as you play. As for games, I only have Nintendogs + Cats so far, which is cool but not too exciting xD But there is always Zelda, which I've heard is awesome, and also Kingdom Hearts coming out next year.

Yeah Kingdom Hearts is one of the big ones, but I looked around and there is actually quite a few other interesting games around on it.
I would not say I am a "hardcore" gamer, but I play a bit more than a casual would I guess. Mostly will be using it on the trip to and from College so it would need to be able to withstand being played for about an hour and a half on most days...

It's overall a really good system. It isn't perfect, but it can be improved a lot with system updates.
It will be really worth getting very soon as more awesome games are coming out for it late this year/early next year.

Star fox 64 looks good, and a few others, plus they are re making MGS3 in 3D and by the time I finish all that KH3D will be at least close to release. I wanted to know about the 3D effect and how well it works especially without glasses considering that online review video can not really show how it looks in 3D....

The 3D looks great, the only negative thing about it is the viewing angle, which is quite narrow. Can be hard to find your "sweet spot"....but once you do, it's awesome.

I own a 3DS, and the 3D effect is really nice! And with Sonic Generations coming out on November 1st, it looks like I'll like it even more. Although I don't know why some 3DS games tell you to take a 10 minute break every 30 minutes you play a game. What happens if you don't? Do you get cancer or something? WTF?

No, you could just really hurt your eyes.

Exactly. You're more likely to suffer the side effects of 3D if you play it too long (nausea, headaches etc.) . I've never experienced any of that myself but it's pretty common.

To start with, I had a 3ds but I sold it.
The 3D is weird and it causes pain in your eyes, also you have to hold it directly in front of you without moving the slightest bit or the 3d effect is gone. The graphics are still horrible (like the other 3.000.000 versions of the DS). Compared to what I have seen from the PSVita the 3ds is nothing!
It's just another version of the DS. Nintendo again trying to get money from you by making the same console over and over again.
