Anyone played around with Linux?

Which distributions have you tried/what's your favorite one?

My favorite would have to be Ubuntu. I've tried Debian and Linux Mint but Ubuntu was the first one I tried and it's still the best out there in my opinion. It has always been beautiful and functional, and the support forums are gooood. Although they use vBulletin, which in my opinion is a bit of a crux. Why philosophize about open source and then not get open source forum software?

Anyone as nerdy as me? I know you're out there. XD

I used to run Yellow Dog on my PS3 back when I first joined here and did for a few months therein. It worked great, G.I.M.P ran on it perfectly and it had a word processor, which is all I really ask for to be honest =D it literally turned the whole console into an almost fully functional computer. Yeah I did like it to a degree.

I had to move on though, Sony later removed otherOS from the PS3 entirely because people started exploiting through it, so I had to get a Laptop and now I am on Windows 7.

On my Dell Inspiron I was running Ubuntu 10.04, it worked decent enough and was pretty quick. I liked how it had a client to run all my messenger and email applications on.

We use Ubuntu 9.10 at school, it's pretty awesome :3

The first Ubuntu I used was 6.06 Dapper Drake (Yes, I still remember the code name!) Now I use Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal. While I like the new Unity Desktop Runtime Environment, I don't use it because it has a significant frame impact on my applications and games. So I stick with GNOME for now.

Is it surprising that Linux is the first widescreen OS? Ubuntu's Unity has all the buttons on the left, and considering that today's screens are all wider than they are tall, it only makes sense to put the buttons on the side.

Depends on what I use it for.
On my home desktop I use Ubuntu. On my laptop, I couldn't get the proprietary NVIDIA graphics drivers working under Ubuntu, so Im using Debian. At work we use Debian. If I'm trouble shooting peoples PC's I use Puppy Linux. On my personal development server I use FreeBSD (Which probably shouldn't be in the list since its not Linux). On my production server I use CentOS (Though Red hat based distros are my least fave).
