Hello all.

Today I got the very sad news that a very large tornado ripped through Joplin, Missouri at about six o'clock this morning. It has killed an estimated 190 people and counting. The ironic part is, the St. Johns Hospital was destroyed by it as well. Many families have lost their homes in the tornado, and many lives have been lost. The American Red Cross has excepted donations as soon as the tornado hit this small town. An estimated 69 tornadoes have touched down Missouri just yesterday. Mother Nature wasn't finished then. A thunderstorm and 60 mile-an-hour winds hit the small town just an hour after the tornado. There was a story of a 5 year old boy and a 2 year old girl being killed in the storm after being separated from their mother.

The American Red Cross has now gotten to work helping these people. Power is out across the town and communication is very limited. God bless these poor people

First the Alabama-Mississippi outbreak, now this. As a meteorologist-in-training, I was very excited to be able to study this and see more of what tornados can do. But as a human being, my heart is breaking for every single town that's destroyed by these tornados. God Bless those people. :(

I know. This is very sad. I've already donated a little bit of money as well.

WTF is wrong with nature? First the Haiti earthquake, then the Japan tsunami and volcano eruption, then a tornado in Joplin... Sometimes I seriously think the apocalypse is near lol...

R.I.P tornado victims... :/ Hopefully the survivors will recover...

Tornado's hit towns a lot. Then again,a lot of the time they only tear up open fields. Lets just hope that the super tornado that scientists are predicting to happen doesn't hit a big city like Dallas or something. That would be beyond devastating.

BTW, a super tornado is a worse tornado than an (E)F5. <-- (Idk what they call it these days but I've heard it both ways.) What ever that super tornado hits, it's gonna be gone. There's a whole documentary on it on Netflix. It's just a single episode, an hour long. The show is called "Perfect Disaster". Pretty interesting to watch.

I think I was watching Stormchasers once where they were following a tornado, it hit a caravan and completely ripped it apart so I would hate to imagine one bad enough to do that to a city.
I mean I have seen the raw video of this tornado but it didnt show the building getting torn apart =( that is so bad, imagine it one minute you are indoors, 10 mins later there is a storm warning and there you go its all gone. I sincerely feel sorry for anyone caught up in a natural disaster, they just are plain unfortunate.
