My Lion King Forum

Hey, I know this may seem out of place or something, but I need to say this.I know the forum members are pretty close with one another, but you guys have been overlooking AWESOME members that don't really leave the Fan Art Albums. Until a few weeks ago, I never really stepped outside the albums. Really I'd only go straight to the roleplays but you guys should REALLY go and meet some of the artists this wonderful site has to offer! Artist's like Tacos, Marz, emanuelle, 1Timestones38n, Numa, Siari and a ton more! I personally try to get them to go out into the forums as best i can, I don't make them, its just so they can get more of a feel of what all they can do on this awesome site! So just stop by their album pages, say hi and get to know them! And ask if they want to do a roleplay with you or do whatever and just talk! The forums isn't the only place with awesome members on this site. I know a lot of you don't know me and could care less of who I am, but THEY deserve attention too! So stop by the Fan Art Albums and make some great new friends!

I too started in the FAA, and there are truly fantastic people there.

Yeah, I just want for the amazing FAA members to get the spotlight they deserve

And the point of this topic is..? We know there are fan art members. Some people lurk around there more than the forums.

I'm saying is to go meet them. I know a handful of members on the forums go on the FAA, but not many. Trust me I know. I just want the artists on this site to be more well known outside of the FAA.

EDIT: I just thought of a good example. Take the Member of the Month contest. There have been A FEW fan artists nominated and then they get one maybe two votes compared to the 11 - 20 votes forum members get. Just because they are not well know outside of the FAA. So yes members are AWARE of the FAA members but they don't really know them. I've tried to nominate other FAA members but they are just absolutely dominated by forum members. I'm not saying the forum members don't deserve it, I'm trying to say that the FAA members should have a chance because if a handful of people on the forums got to know some FAA members, then it'd be more fair for them to get the recognition they deserve once in a while. I'm not trying to be mean or anything! Please don't take it like that! But There are SO FEW FAA members that leave the FAA to go to the forums and where ever else. There are basically 3 groups. Forum members, FAA members and then the VERY TINY group that goes back and fourth between the two. I just want the FAA members to get some attention. Cuz they deserve the attention.

The fan artists haven't been "dominated" by the forum members. You have to be active on the forum for a certain amount of time to be nominated and win.

Wrong. ANYONE can be nominated as long as they have been a member for a month and you believe they have been active enough

"Each month, members will nominate up to four members who they consider active enough fans to be considered "fans of the month".

* New members can be nominated one month after their joining the forum. If it's TLK fan of the month, it won't necessarily be fair to allow one-week old members to win compared to the older members who might not necessarily have a storage box of new ideas ready to be opened upon joining MLK.

* When nominating a member, provide a reason why they are being nominated. Unfortunately, a "I nominate 'X' because they are a great TLK fan!" will not be accepted. Try to provide a link or even a reference as to why they are a fan. Also, keep references for those that are on MLK. It won't be very nice to have members be nominated for something they did off MLK. Keep it on the forum please.

*The contest renews itself after each new year. If a member won in a year, they cannot be nominated again ultil the next year"

And I'm not saying nominate fan artist just cuz, I'm saying they need more recognition cuz I want them to be closer with the site and its members. I'm not trying to fight you on this or anything, I just want the members on here to get to know each other better. Because not enough FAA and forum members interact or even know each other. Now I would appreciate if you would please stop trying to stop me from just trying to get more recognition for other FAA members. I just want them to feel special.

I don't really have an eye for art, so it's hard for me to give an artist a complement other that I like your picture. However I did take the time to look at some of Laim's picture as well as comment and vote on them.

I don't think SM was trying to "stop" you from doing anything. I think she just had the same reaction I did, this thread is basically just saying "We have plenty of quality members in the FAA." and I was just like "Well okay then, I already knew that."

But the thing is, why should I have to make an effort to go out of my way to go into the FAA and leave comments on their pictures? What's stopping those guys from just posting on the forums more and me meeting them that way? Well it's probably because they would rather draw and share fan art with other artists, right? So it's no different from someone like me choosing to spend my time on here talking about TLK and making graphics with fellow fans or writing fan fiction, is it?

I mean, it's not like I don't have a mutual respect for members of the FAA who chose to only use the FAA, it's just that I'm not going to be able to talk to them if so and that's just the way it is.
Even on this forum we have people who only post in the off topic sections or only post in the Lion King based sections. But it's fine, nothing against each other, its just that we won't be able to get to know each other as well.

Yes the community here is somewhat disjointed but its only because the site is so big. And the design of it seems to be catered to as many different tastes as possible, so that people who aren't interested in one thing, don't need to see it.
I will never be the type of person who hangs around on the FAA because I'm not an artist and while good fan art is impressive to me, I have no idea how to talk about it other than "Yeah that sure is a picture you did draw."

I could say to you, "Hey we have plenty of really good fan ficiton writers here as well, just because you guys don't write fan ficiton yourself, doesn't mean you should ignore those who do! (insert link to fan fiction forum here if I could be bothered to get it) but I don't think it's right to tell other people how they should or should not use the site.
