Newbie Mama Lion
Posted: March 26th, 2012, 7:51 amHello all! I stumbled upon this awesome place and I know I'll love it. I was 12 when TLK came out and I've been a fan ever since. I used to act out the whole movie with a friend of mine. I usually played Nala but sometimes we switched and I was Simba.
It wasn't until I became a mother that my interest in TLK was renewed. My daughter, who is 6, has delved into TLK world over the past year. She writes and illustrates her own fan fiction and I became more and more interested in all the characters she was introducing, which she took it upon herself to research before we ever purchased SP and 1 1/2. I realized I liked the characters, storylines, and general TLK world more than just a regular adoring mom would. I had no idea this forum existed; my daughter found it for me. It seems perfect.
I will change my avatar when I find a nice pic I'd like to use. TLK is a big part of our life at home. My daughter has assigned our characters as follows: my husband is Mufasa, I am Sarabi, my older son is Simba, daughter is Nala, Kiara, Vitani, or Sarafina (depending on her mood), and our baby boy is the Young Prince but we don't have a character for him yet.
By the way, I'm 29, been with my Mufasa for 12 years, have 2 college degrees (Nuclear Medicine Technology) and enjoy playing the piano. I am starting to organize all my daughter's fan art and stories into digital files. She wants to share them somewhere and I never knew a place existed for fans like us, so I'm glad to be here and I'll be reading posts to catch up. My daughter is only 6 but is very talented artistically, and she does show mild furry-like tendencies as she tends to draw TLK-based characters along with wolves and feline-inspired characters. But as I said, she's only 6 so she's just a little girl! Hope to make some new friends here. Thanks for reading.

Your daughter sounds lovely, I find it amazing how this movie and its characters continue to be appreciated by younger generations. Solid proof that classics NEVER die.
