Well I thought that Kovu wants to lead, and Kiara backs him up and the lioness's are divided on who to follow as Simba is not ready to give up his power.

hmmmm what if it was a few years after Simba's reign was over or something? but I don't know how this would work out in the long run it's easy to make a quick story out of a civil war
