"I guess we could do that," Herne said, "the place I stay at within the city though," he said, "not the farm. That's an hour hike from here, and it's in the other city... can't remember the name of that city though," he admitted, "so let's hurry." He turned left when they exited the coliseum where they entered, and head towards the slums.
She nodded and trotted next to him. She hummed a small tune as they walked. Her breath was still caught in her chest but she had managed to calm down. What had gone through the lion's head? Would it go through hers? What would happen to her?
The caracal apprentice glanced back at Riina, she was humming, but her face looked worried. Herne really didn't know what to tell her, but he had to say something to her, to try and help her with the coliseum fights that she could be exposed to later in her life. "I wouldn't let it bug you too much," he said to her calmly," but even that..." he trailed off with his voice. He hated the fights. He hated everything of them. That and how captive cats were treated here were what he hated the most, everything else he could deal with and honestly did enjoy. It was the senseless violence that happened. "The most beautiful looking things seem to be the most vial when it comes to nature," he said, "like this city."
She looked to him and her humming stopped for a moment or two. She made a small agreeing grunt, her lungs untightening a bit. "Yea..." she went back to humming afterwards.
"Then you have the things that are true to what they are," he said blindly, more of thinking aloud, rather than directly at her, "the slums here for instance... they look like the ones in need of help," he paused, "they do need help with stuff. Though I am continually astounded by how easily they will give up what they worked to get to another," he stopped, listening to the cubs humming for a minute as they walked. It was a really pleasant tune. He actually really enjoyed it. "So... where did you learn that tune?" he asked her, "it's actually rather elegant," he smiled at her. He knew she was hurting from what she saw, but so was he, and the tune was really helpful to him.
"I learned it from the brief time I knew my mom." she said with a sad and small smile. "She used to hum it to me when I couldn't sleep..." she put a paw on her chest using three of her legs to limp onwards and not fall over.
Herne smiled, but he had a heavy-heart at that, he lost his mom, he lost his whole family during the Massilian War, or whatever it was actually called. "Well... glad you could remember it," he said softly to her, "not something I could forget," he said, pondering the hum in his head, "really shows beauty for it really is, not a disguise," he smiled. He actually had to hold back some tears from his eyes, really made him think of his lost family. "My mom had tunes she'd sing," he said to her, "but I don't remember them," he frowned a bit at that, "but... these do plenty enough on their own, thank you." he nodded at her.
She smiled. "You're welcome. It's a calming tune," Riina smiled up at him. "I could always help you remember the tune..." she told him.
"Well, now would be as good of a time as any to start," Herne said to her, smiling.
She smiled and continued to hum her tune from the beginning. Riina walked along with him. "Hhmm.. Hhmhmm..."
The caracal listened to her for a bit, then tried to join in.
She continued and nodded as he joined in. "You have a nice singing voice, Herne." she complimented as he hit the notes.
"Really?" he actually said surprised by her statement, "never figured I had that type of voice," he admitted, "got burned really badly as a cub, it's why I sound the way I do when I talk," he said, with his voice showing gruff in tone, "nice to know it's welcomed for a change," he smiled before going back into the hum.
"Yea..." she gave him a sweet smile. Normally her soft voice couldn't hit the low notes but Herne's could.
The caracal kept a smile and carried on with the hum. This was really helpful to him. He knew he was going to face some trouble soon, this tune could very well be but would keep him sane. He had some large plans for the evening, they were by no means by the rules either, but he couldn't let a family be torn apart, and Riina... she was something. The caracal had no words for her. He just hoped his plans carried out smoothly. If not, the tune would help so much with what layed in front of him. So they padded on, humming to the elegant tune. I loved the ending to this RP with BrackentheWolf and her misfit Riina. The young caracal obvious thinks a lot of her, I'm kinda sad that twelve hours later he is behind bars. So within the city, this is the last thing he did. Quite the send off into where ever his story is going to take him. The first song in the Speed Paint, Snowy from Undertale, is the tune Riina's humming. So I'll have a link to that tune as well. Out of the RPs I have done, this one was definitely one of my personal favourites. It has quite the approach. It reminds me of the one with Vesta and the two with Ivory. The bittersweet stuff is kinda the stuff to get me the most. So that could be why I like it so much. And the whole thing of what Herne did after this is definitely a bittersweet pill to swallow. And an RP that's not quite done with Tama that I really wanna get up here.
