Falling

[Nine]

Carlo slowly moved towards the cliff, his little sister, Sara, followed behind him.
He flicked one of his ears and sighed, the wind rustled in his long dark brown fur as he stood only a few meters from the cliff.
"Where is Ludwig?" he asked, turning his head to look at the small female, waiting for a reply from her.
"H-he is at the river, making sure it's safe y-you know..." she stuttered, her weak voice echoed slightly as she stood there, shaking.
He nodded and sat down, closing his light green visionaries and perking his long ears, thoughts clouded his mind as he sat there. Sara stayed quiet and looked around, her ears pinned to her skull as always.

"What are you two doing?" a sudden voice said behind them, making Sara squeak and turn around. Carlo opened his eyes and turned his head, glaring at a large male lion, it's mane black and it's fur reddish.
"Why are you asking?" he said and turned his whole body, protecting his younger sister and perking his ears.
The lion slowly moved forward, his eyes calm as he watched the two lynxes "Because, this is my land" he said and flicked one of his short ears.

Carlo calmed down and spoke "You must be Kovu then..." he said and blinked.
Sara's eyes grew wide "Y-you are Kovu!?" she asked, her ears perked.
The lion nodded "Yes, who may you be, stranger?" he asked, sitting down. Carlo looked at his sister and answered.
"The name is Carlo and Sara, we have a brother with the name Ludwig, he is around here" he said and lashed his shot tail.

"Kovu, dear, is everything alright?" a voice asked, the voice's owner appeared behind Kovu.
The lioness who had spoke was a young female with reddish eyes, three cubs was behind her.
Kovu turned his head to them "Just strangers, make sure the cubs don't get to close" he said and lashed his tail. The female nodded and picked up one of the cubs and then walked over to a tree.

Carlo looked at the three cubs, scanning each f them with his lime green eyes.
They all looked like Kovu, who must have been their father, but they all had the same colored eyes as the lioness. Must be his cubs... Carlo thought and moved his gaze to the male lion.

"Where do you come from?" he asked and wrapped his tail around his large paws.
Carlos looked away and flattened his ears slightly "From... No where" he said and dug his claws into the soil.
"Well, would you care to join our kingdom?" Kovu suddenly asked.
Sara's eyes grew wide "Wha-what!?" she asked. Carlo just narrowed his eyes and then looked at the lion.
"Let us think about that..."
