The director of Simba's Pride was contacted back in 2010 on Facebook, and he stated Zira was changed from being written as Scar's mate to being a follower with her lineage being obscured. As for Nuka, he was basically complaining since he is the oldest of Zira's children and his exaggeration of his strength and intelligence, he should have been appointed Scar's heir, not because he is Scar's son (which he has been confirmed as not).
