Actually here is the story about the event where the clip was shown

The Story is dated November 6, 2014 (A Thursday). It States that the event in question was held on Wednesday. Which would mean that the Clip would have been shown on November 5. My guess is that the concept art would have been made before the animation, so I think it is safe to assume that Kion now has a Lion Head on his shoulder rather a paw print.

I think the Lion Head looks better, but many fan artists are going to be annoyed. It also makes me think that the Lion Head is not a birthmark. the pattern seem far too intricate to be a birthmark.

I did not expect any more Lion Guard news until March 2015. I am very happy to have been proven wrong.

IMO the pawprint is a lot cooler idea.
