Nobody outside of the people working on the show knows when it takes place.

^ True we don't have a confirmed timeline, but they did say Kiara is the older sibling, so logic tells us it's most probably after SP.

Hi folks, I'm the one who asked Jason about being in Lion Guard.

I just did some research, and nothing specific about the show, I DID find something intriguing.

As someone before posted, Jason said if Kovu's in, he might be voiced by Hal Sparks.:

This is not without precedent.

That's because Jason was the original voice of Tak in Tak & The Power of Juju games by Avalanche. After the 3rd game, Tak & The Great Juju Challenge, who took over the role? Hal Sparks.

So Hal has indeed voice doubled Jason at least once prior.

So hopefully Kovu is in and the Circle of Life comment is referring to his departure. Because now I'm really interested in seeing what Hal can do as Kovu with his experience with Jason prior.

Edit: He earlier today confirmed he simply hasn't gotten a call to come back, so Kovu's status is still up in the air.

He just so happened to have recorded for a character yesterday he hasn't done in 20 years. TLK2 came out in 1998 so that's about 17 years ago, not many examples it can be.

Looks like people are hoping for Max. The first Goofy Movie came out 20 years ago... But then he also voiced him in the sequel too. I'd be happy with either character, but Kovu would be especially awesome.

Max was in The House of Mouse and Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas though. The latter came out on Nov 9th 2004, so that's just barely over a decade old.

Well if the video clip he put up is a hint, we can rule out Kovu for at least the time being. But there is no reason to give up all hope.
