Considering how bad villains are in movie sequels I think she was one of the best.

Yeah, Zira is a pretty good character for a sequel villain. If they had made her commit suicide in the final version, she would have been pure evil o_o
But she loved her children (Vitani seems to be the least loved), so she is not that simple.
