Yup, member announcements is intended for posts giving notice about real life issues that keep you off the boards, but naturally people comment on the issue itself which turns it into a sort of advice board lol.
For now advice/council can go in either the community of member announcements forums, maybe there will be an update to give these threads their own home in the future.

Perhaps it might be better to rename Member Announcements to Member Announcements and Consoling?
