I have an email application on my phone. Every time I get an email it notifies me about it. When someone PMs you (depends on your settings) or answers on subscribed thread you'll get an automatic email about it. There are no a direct forum-to-phone notification system however

Not really, there hasn't been anything there since the TLG preview stuff. Problem is that I felt the group was breaking up the community a bit, in that anyone who doesn't make a Facebook or join the page was missing out on conversation that could just as easily be posted here anyway.
It is more personal than posting here which is nice for getting to know members but eh...
