Hi! Welcome to the Feedback forum.
Before reading anything or asking anything; please check out the FAQs. Your question might be in there. However if you want a better understanding after reading the FAQs, like if it didn't explain it good enough, then by all means ask your question.

Please read the following before posting in this forum...

In this forum you will see an Announcement, and several "sticky" topics. The announcement is the Universal Board Rules. If you are new, read this before doing anything else! The sticky topics will stay above and separated from normal user-made topics in the forum. This is because they outline important information about the board. If you see a sticky topic concerning your issue, please reply with your question or concern in the correct topic. Moderators will see your reply within these topics. Before asking your question, be sure to read the topic and its first page especially. It contains information about your issue that is valuable and may even answer your questions. If the topic does not answer your question, ask your question within the topic, not the forum. If no sticky topic concerns your issue, then you are welcome to ask your own questions by creating a new topic within the forum.

Thank you for keeping the Board Help forum organized!

Am I just an isolated case or did anybody else get a sudden boom of Ads on the forums? or have thay always been there because when I first joined I browsed here add free, then a disproportionate amount of ads started popping up. Just want to know if it's just me or if anyone else has lots of advertising...

Oh and I get a lot of redirection adds specifically from this site that change the whole page (not just a new tab but I get those too) to try to give me a virus disguised as a media player and stuff like that. Does that happen to any of you too?

I disabled adblock and I can see those pop-ups as well. You're not alone

It looks like it's fixed now for me. I have no idea what happened

Check your browser's add-ons/extensions and then go to 'Programs and Features' (sort them by date) if there's anything unnecessary installed recently, remove them. After that run a full virus scan

I didn't find anything malicious but I had some mysterious browser extensions installed (no idea where they had came from, their installation date were 'today'). After I removed those it all stopped

Sounds like you got Adware installed on your machine which can also act as a browser extension. You will get pop-up ads anywhere you go on the web even if it's a legitimate site like here on MLK and they can even pop-up when you're not even using the Internet or browsing the web, as long as your Internet connection is alive on your computer.

Follow what juhouh was saying (though, make sure your anti-virus software can also remove Spyware and Adware too), and hopefully it'll take care of your local problem altogether. Image

MLK has no advertisements and will never have them again. If you're getting pop-ups and advertisements on MLK, it's not because of the site.
