Banning

When people are banned, I think you guys should notify us. I was waiting for replies in a conversation with Fip when I learned he was banned (temporarily). Similarly, I learned out of nowhere that DG is banned? While I can agree with not discussing mod actions in public, not telling us when (and why maybe?) members are removed from the site is inconvenient and a bit shady looking. ;3

Well, we considered this, but in the end we didn't want to reveal something like that. We thought it was unfair to the banned member to have their wrongdoings and punishment announced to the entire forum.

We can have a vote on it, if you wish, though. ^_^

I think it would be very unfair and embarrassing to the person for the mods/admins to announce to everyone "Hey, this person got banned for this that and the other thing!" I mean really. I certainly wouldn't want everyone on the forum to know that I was banned for whatever reason. I guess a poll could be done but I personally don't think it's a good idea. It's an issue between the mods and the individual only and it should stay that way. After that they can tell whoever they want via Skype, MSN, ect.

I agree that this does get inconvenient, especially when you have members waiting forever for a reply to an RP only to find out that the member has been banned (that definitely happened to me) And I personally wouldn't care if a mod announced publicly that I ever got banned lol. I'm for this idea.

EDIT: Meh I guess if someone doesn't want their banning to become public, the notification could be optional. That makes everyone happy.

Having an option like that would be silly. We don't need things to be more complicated right now.

How does that even make it complicated? It's not very complicated in the first place lol

Because when your banning someone, the last thing you want to do is ask them if they want us to go ahead and announce it. lol

Well we don't really need to know the reason, We just need a heads up that they are out of action for a while... ;)

The rules are excruciatingly complicated right now, and we don't need to add stuff like this that most banned members don't care about anyway. If any banned members wants the staff to notify certain members, we are willing to do that, no problem.
