Flight MH370: What Happened?

Flight MH370: What Happened?

Postby Kiburi » March 20th, 2014, 4:47 pm

So, if you don't know by now, a couple weeks ago, a Malaysia Airlines flight went missing. People have made theories left and right as to what happened or if there was some sort of motive for a hijacking. Recently, they have found a new lead of the coast of Australia, near Perth, through satellite imagery, which may lead them to debris from the flight. They have stayed searching, but are going to continue their search tomorrow.

Now, personally, I think that this was not a hijacking, as there has not been any real evidence of it. Also, if it was a hijacking, what would they have accomplished?

So, do you have any theories or thoughts as to what happened to this flight?

Knowing the safety standards of Asian airlines, I am not surprised this has happened. Considering the hassle it is just to "turn on the ignition" on a small single-engine prop plane, just to maximize the chances that something won't go wrong in flight, I can very easily say that for an airliner, proper maintenance is a very time, and especially money consuming, prospect.

Skimping out on a procedure here or there, or retrofitting that broken part instead of fully replacing it, or that's not broken, it's just wobbly, so leave it alone...

There are many reasons why one will skip out something a western airline will be sued to death for. And most of the time, nature will let you get away with it, otherwise flight would be impossible if every broken part caused a crash (or midair break-up). Keyword most of the time.

^ Thats all double dutch to me I'm afraid.

I've been listening to this although not religiously. I've picked up things here and there and I am very surprised that despite all the technology we have nowadays, we cant find this plane. I have a feeling it may have been hijacked (wasn't there two people on board with stolen passports?). I just want them to find it ASAP as I feel so sorry for the families that have family or friends on this flight.

Yes, it really is astonishing that we don't have a greater ability to track planes these days. I heard about the stolen passports and it does sound a bit suspicious. Anyways, I agree that these families need some closure.

I don't want to say aliens, because they won't be so obvious about taking an airliner. :P

I think that the plane got stolen/shot-down :I

Remember when the Korean Air Lines plane was shot down by the Russians several years go? After some time, the US released audio recordings of the transmissions of the Russian pilots that fired the missiles that shot the plane down. And with all the craziness what's going on between Russia and Ukraine, I wouldn't be surprised if they shot the plane down as well. It's been 16 days and nobody has found anything but scarps.

If they can't find anything in 11,000 square-mile area... then what else there is to think? So with that stated... I say the US knows what happened, but wont tell anything.

I was meaning to post this last night, but based so far on what we know, it's a safe bet it has sunk to the bottom of the Indian Ocean.

Although I normally don't say this about the government and its regards to issues like this, I kinda want to agree with you. I honestly think that the people are not getting the full story, maybe they know exactly what happened, or maybe not.

With regards to what happened, I don't think it was terrorist. Just like DGF said, airlines over there are not held to the safety and training as pilots in the the US. So it could have possibly been a part, or just a unlucky system fail. What throws me off is the fact that the aircraft continued to fly even after the transmitter was shut off, and that is just something that I pilot does not just turn-off, even a very little trained one.

Hopefully with the new news on the aircraft being declared 'ending at sea' will not slow down the searching for the aircraft, but I would like to see what they come up with!
