Ah I see. Does that mean doing a subject at a level higher than your grade (think I may have read this somewhere, not sure though :/ ) ?

It means you get college credit for the class, if you pass the AP test at the end of it.

In most situations, it's kinda a waste of time. But that's just my opinion on the matter.

Don't mean to alarm anyone but -
I'M ACTUALLY GOING TO ENTER THIS TIME!
I know I used to say this every time and then not enter ( don't worry DGF told me off for it) but this time it's different because I actually started :D

Pretty much sums it up. I think the AP courses are a lot harder than the high school courses, which is appealing to someone like me (that's mostly why I take them, plus they look good on transcripts if you do well in them). Our chem teacher would give us packets of notes to read through and do problems on and such. I did AP World History also, and that involved about ten pages of reading nightly from a huge college textbook.

I've probably already forgotten most of the chem equation. The orders of reactions came at the end of the year, and we only just skimmed organic.

Anyways, as far as the contest... I still have yet to write and submit it. Hopefully I can work on it and get it done this weekend, instead of cramming it in the night before like I always seem to do. :P

AP courses are insane, though, if you're trying to pass the AP test. I took *actual* college classes when I was still in high school. I actually got credit for that, and it was way easier.

Or to put it into another perspective: I took both Calculus 1 and 2 in High School, but was only able to get credit for Calc 1 (despite passing both AP tests), and had to "retake" calc 2. It was a lot harder the second time around, in actual college. Probably because the pace was twice as fast, with half a year compared to a full year.

So how does this relate to the writing contest again? Oh right, if you want that 5.0 GPA, you need to submit your story to the contest pronto. :P

My AP calculus BC class covered all of calculus 2, and even part of calculus 3. It was only a semester long, like college classes.

Calculus was harder in college for me, but I never bothered to take the AP tests. No one in my AP class took the AP test, so it was pretty chill.

Ah okay, thanks guys, I understand now :)

I just remember being really confused when I would be watching a movie set in an American high school. I remember some movie where a girl was talking about coming top in AP Mandarin :? I had no clue what she meant

AP Mandarin? They offer AP classes for Chinese dialects? Weird.

Of course, you are all required per that contract you "signed" upon joining MLK to pass the AP Writing Contest test by submitting a story. There's still a week left for that! But no procrastinating! :P
