Every day bought a new adventure in the kingdom, from hunting for food and finding new ways to make the most of resources, to ensuring peace and calm throughout the Kingdom. But peace was always a fleeting moment. If you had resources and used them, you had to find more. This was what Mufasa and his brother Scar, who was next in the line of heritage to be king spend their days doing. But now things were about to change, with Sarabi carrying Simba now, it was up to Mufasa and Scar to find a new home for the growing pride.

Mufasa was the first to wake of the two. Today was the day they would begin their journey together, wherever it may lead them.
Mufasa looked around remembering how beautiful this place was, while remnants of the past magnificence were still present with vegetation still growing strong, the supply of water and food was beginning to dwindle and on top of that their current living arrangements were not viable with a new prince on the way.

Despite this he was optimistic, a council with the kings of the past recently had told him of a stunning, huge formation of rocks that overlooked jungle and lands full of life, there would be a seemingly endless supply of resources there, the perfect place to set up a new home, Mufasa had thought. And so he had asked his loyal brother Taka to assist him in finding such a place.

Taka was to meet Mufasa soon, so the two of them could begin their journey.

Taka got up and stretched and took one last look at his home, before heading out to find his brother. He would miss this place. It was where he was born and raised with his brother. Though he had to admit to himself that he was not all that excited about finding a new place. He only did it out of what little respect he had for Mufasa left. Taka was meant to be first in line, right after Mufasa was king. But that wasn't going to happen. Mufasa was having a son, and the little furball was going to take his father's place. Taka wasn't at all thrilled.

Sighing, Taka left his den and went to seek out Mufasa.

Mufasa was remembering the recent day's events. Especially the revelation to the rest of the pride that a new prince was soon to be. He had felt a shift in the atmosphere when it was announced Sarabi would be having a baby cub and was wandering if anyone else had felt it.

Not that he could blame anyone, there were some who were pleased that Taka was next in line to the throne and now they would have to put their trust in the new prince.
It was because of this that Mufasa felt he had an extra responsibility; he would ensure that the prince would grow up learning the ways of a great leader from as early as possible and Mufasa was going to have to lead by example to teach this.

With this in mind and after Sarabi had talked to him recently and mentioned how the pride was growing, Mufasa had decided they would be relocating. A better quality of life for his son and for everyone else, he couldn't think of a better way of ensuring everyone that their future was safe and remained his priority in spite of the recent news.

Taka slunk down the path that lead him away from the old den as he kept a look out for his brother. He felt the familiar terrain beneath his paws and took in what he could get of the scenery. He saw antelopes grazing lazily in the distance, zebra slurping away from the nearby waterhole and also felt the occasional soft breeze through his black mane.

Taka wondered what the new prince would be like. Would he like him? Would the new prince like him as well? Is he going to be a selfish little pest? Thousands of questions swirled around in Taka's mind. He hoped deep down that the new prince would rule the lands with care and be a great king like his father will be. Taka still loved his brother despite that promise he broke way back when.But suddenly thinking of it filled Taka with anger. He tried not to let it bother him-he had done a good job thus far-but right now it seemed like he couldn't let go of it.

"You will be King next in line, after me!"

"Really?"

"Yes. I promise".

Taka growled low as if he was snarling at the memory to get out of his head. After a few moments struggle he got his head together. Just in time too, because he could see Mufasa in the distance.

Yes dear, it will be fine. We will be there soon Mufasa said, finishing his conversation with Sarabi. She had been a bit worried about the journey he was about to go on. But her faith in her lover had never been misplaced before. And Mufasa wasn't going alone anyway.

Mufasa left the den, as he did he could see Taka was approaching, he watched him for a second as he processed his thoughts. Taka had been relatively okay about the news over the past few days. If there was any sense of realism to his behaviour the past few days, Mufasa would trust him completely but yet there was something about the way he had been acting that didn't match his initial reaction. His kind words towards the pair felt forced to a degree of almost sarcasm.

Was Taka truly happy for them, or was he masking his real feelings? Mufasa would have to discuss this with him later. For now it didn't matter, what mattered is the two of them made the journey safely together. After all the adventures they had been on together as cubs, Mufasa wouldn't allow the recent news to splinter the bond they had built together. But did Taka feel the same way? "I'll just say good morning." Mufasa thought.

"Brother. Good morning!" Mufasa said as Taka approached.

Taka looked up at Mufasa, who was happily greeting him. Taka put on his best face and smiled at his brother.

"Good Morning, Mufasa! It really is a great day for den hunting, isn't it?" Taka continued smiling and sat down in front of his brother. A great day. What a joke. Taka would rather be staying at the home he grew up in and lazing around as he usually did, dreaming of what it would be like when he would be king. But those memories were but a waste now. Snapping out of his negative thoughts, Taka turned towards Sarabi.

"A good morning also, to your highness and her prince!", Taka said cheerfully.

"Brother." Mufasa said, warmly greeting Taka. He watched as Taka turned to Sarabi. There was something about the way he was moving, his words and actions were not fully aligned. But Mufasa threw aside any doubts for the time being. Perhaps it was just taking him a little longer to get used to the idea.
Either way, the two of them had a fairly long journey ahead of them.

"There will be time to talk about that later." Mufasa said, motioning toward Sarabi who was still resting, as she had been doing progressively more often.
"We should get a drink before we head off. There might not be another chance for a little while. And I can fill you in on some details the kings have provided us with." Mufasa said. He wasn't sure at this point Taka would still believe in the words of the past kings, but he'd share the information with his brother all the same. He had the right to know what potentially lay ahead of them.

Taka nodded at Mufasa, agreeing to a cool drink from the waterhole and smiling at Sarabi again, he led the way to the waterhole.

"What have the kings told us?" Taka asked as he kept a slow pace next to his brother. The great kings of the past had supposedly told Mufasa something. Probably something useless as he did not believe in such a tale anymore. That was a story to tell your cubs, so they would behave. The great kings of the past are watching. Taka still didn't know why his brother believed in it still and he wanted to ask why, but he decided to let Mufasa have his hope.
